it is not who i am anymore. and more often than not, i face the pressure of creating a somewhat decent entry. as much as i wanted to be a bit different, it is just not who i am.

now, i must do something before i finally decide to put a stop to all this writing.

this is how it is in UP. enrollment pa lang, pinahihirapan ka na. but when you get to the classes themselves, it was all worth it.

My Expectations:

the fourth installment of college life comes with more responsibilities. thus, provides more avenue of proving myself worthy of being called an iskolar ng bayan not only in the academe but also in other aspects that makes up a well-rounded individual.

these responsibilities will help test my new priorities. and, as i progress, these priorities will eventually surface and help define me as a person.

also, i expect a lot of trouble coming my way. school does not mean you wake up, take a bath, go to school, go home then sleep. it is a lot more than that. aside from school, we also have different commitments to different people. if ever i do not take my time management abilities to a higher level, i might be in for a lot of surprises.

i like everything planned. so, i guess i would be more organized this year than the preceding ones. i don’t want to go through all the things i’ve been to last year.

What is Expected of Me:

i am expected to be a good student, son and citizen. haha.

these may not be verbally stated but very much implied inside the house.

as i expect more responsibilities i will be eventually turned into a good student. a better outlook and list of priorities will help me be the student i once was. nerdy, yes. but not delinquent.

also, being able to reach the second decade of my life here on earth. i am also expected to be a more responsible adult. help with household chores. yada-yada-yada.

i cant help but be a good example to my younger cousins and prove to be worth of such role.

the little spark of hope i had suddenly died.

i do not know whom to turn to anymore nor whom to trust.

it was when you were ready to open up that the world decides to close its doors on you.

i know it may sound a bit harsh and that there will always be hope. but, hey, let us be in touch with reality that everybody feels so down every now and then.

all i knew it started out perfectly fine for a summer morning. the weather excites some neurochemicals in the brain that would lead to some weather-related psychological effect. it was either that or something i felt that ruined the day.

i thought that maybe it is nice to go out for a change. to leave this house and do nothing for a day. for the last month, this house is being repainted. and, the final touches are on their way. today, i didnt want to hold a paintbrush, have paint stains on my body and bath with thinner in the afternoon.

however, i cannot think of some reason to go out. and, i dont know where to go either.

so, trapped again inside this building, i decided to continue with the painting.

everybody knows that i am not skilled when it comes to household chores. the only chore i like doing is to wash the dishes. i do not like sweeping the floor because the sweep is too short and it gives me back aches. i do not like dusting because i do not like dust, in general. i do not like mopping because i feel like Cinderella. in short, when it comes to the household, i am very lazy.

but, not with painting. last week was the first compliment i got for doing a household chore. they said i do not waste paint. or i am a thrifty painter.

that was the first and the last compliment i ever heard. after that, i was so lazy in doing this and doing that.

anyway, today, i decided to paint my door. i didnt want it to be just plain black. so, i figured to do this art ive been doing since high school.

i can’t show it to you now. you can come by the house later and ill show it to you. hah.

no matter how i try, i guess i am not a born cleaner. i am a natural at painting, though.

so now, until enrollment, i guess i would be staying inside the house and finish this up. i am going to help so as not to extend this painting session until classes start. that would be a whole lot of hassle for me.

i wish everyday was painting day.

everybody is so excited once the CRS (computerized registration system) results are out. as much as possible, each would pray that he/she would get the full 18 units in CRS so as not to wait in line during enrollment to get their needed classes.

i, for one, am lucky to have enlisted in those full 18 units. and, if you have experience with CRS you will definitely say that i am very lucky.

dont be overwhlemed by the number of letters in the subject. the last three letters are the sections. TH means that the class is held every Tuesday and Thursday while the WF ones are on Wednesday and Friday. the last letter tells you the time slot. every letter corresponds to a different time slot. these letters starts with Q for the 7-830am classes then R for the 830-10am classes and so on.

however, i do not think i am ready for school to open, yet. i haven’t been able to enjoy vacation and i have not been to somewhere i’ve never been to before.

but, the fact that i was not the student once was, i wanted to take revenge. and, i want to start it as early as i can. i mean, i dont want to be the same as i was in third year. i now that i havent been studying that hard. and now, i want to do the opposite.

it has been one of my comforting foods. and more often than not, it is the food that i most crave for.

Hansen Gregory claimed to have invented such thing on 1847 aboard a lime-trading ship when he was just sixteen years old. what he was doing on the ship, we don’t know. but apparently, these rings were made by punching a hole in the center of the dough using the ship’s tin pepper box.

anyway, there are apparently a number of establishments that offer donuts. bakeries, for example, has the staple donut which comes in only one flavor, sugar-dipped.

i think, right now, after almost 19 years of existence, i am an expert on this matter – donuts.

Dunkin’ Donuts (Grade: A)

as far as anyone i know, they knew that Dunkin’ Donuts is established by Filipinos. but no, Dunkin’ Donuts was founded on 1950 at Quincy, Massachusetts by a guy named William Rosenberg. it was only in 1981 that these donuts made their way into FIlipino mouths.

i graded these donuts as A from their price and their taste. if you want to satisfy your donut craving and yet, do not have enough money to spend, you may try one of these.

i also love their new choco chip muffins. they are so tasty and big. these muffins, however, are not as affordable as the normal donuts which are only 10pesos.

Krispy Kreme (Grade: B)

If you want to satisfy your cravings and you have enough (when i say enough, it is 50+pesos enough) money on you, you may want to try Krispy Kreme whose most popular donut is its Original Glazed that is usually served hot. Their bread is tasty too!

Krispy Kreme was founded in 1937 but it only arrived here in the Philippines late 2006.

GoNuts Donuts (Grade: B+)

GoNuts appeared in the Philippine donut industry by December 11, 2003.

i first tasted it at a resort when i was in high school. it was the first ever donut chain (that i knew of) that offered peanut butter donuts then. from then on, i was addicted to it and i was very happy when it opened its store in Cubao.

one of the things that people complain about their donuts is that they are very sweet. one donut would suffice your whole craving. also, their donuts are good to eat when served hot.

Mister Donut (Grade: B-)

i also thought that this donut chain is established by Filipinos; but, research prove me wrong. Do you remember the Rosenberg guy who established Dunkin’ Donuts? well, his then partner and brother-in-law, Harry Winouker, split up and created their own donut chains. This led to the founding of Mister Donut by Harry Winouker.

those facts i didn’t know. however, this rivalry is still prevalent here in the Philippines. Mister Donut reached the Filipinos by May 10, 1995. they were 14 years behind.

Mist Donut, for me, is the last alternative. if there are no other choices left, and i am still craving for donuts, i would buy from Mister Donuts. the problem with them is that their donuts taste bland. you cannot differentiate Choco Peanut from Choco Butternut. and that, 10pesos is not worth it.

Hot Loops (Grade: A-)

Hot Loops is proudly Filipino. its idea is spearheaded by John Gokongwei himself. it started its operations by 2004.

Hot Loops is one of the tastiest donuts i ever tasted. also, i love it when they are still hot.

Cello’s Doughnuts and Dips (Grade: A+)

Cello’s is established by Cello Santos a graduate of Management Engineering of Ateneo. Their branches are in Katipunan Ave. and Taft Ave.

what i like about this place is their different flavored donuts. they have all new flavors like Chocnut, Oreos and everybody’s favorite, Cheese. and they also have dips for pillows, too. pillows are donuts shaped like pillows and are bite-size.

they are tasty and are baked – so there is less cholesterol. also, they are not too sweet nor too bland.

these, by far, are the donut chains that deserve attention and appreciation.

this morning we had our first exam in ES12.

okay. i was smiling throughout the duration of the exam. not that it was easy. i was smiling because i loved doing these things. i like analyzing these whats and hows.

however, after the exam, as i walk towards the jeepney terminal, i was thinking about the relation of ES12 with my course – this goes for every other ES subject except for ES21 and 26.

i am industrial engineer, what do i need kinetics and kinematics for?

my anger thermometer does not react to the presence of minute nuisance.

however, there still are things that make me irk. and, i get easily irritated.

1. People In Front of Me Who Walk So Slooooooooooooow

i walk in the middle of the road so that i can overtake. however, there are people who walk so slow and cover these areas too.

< if > Parents with Children

don’t you know that you are not setting a good example for your children? and that, sloth is one of the mortal sins? please do not walk at the center of the road if you and your child is on a field trip. if you want to ogle at things like animals in a zoo, go to the park. you will find things there more amusing.

< if > Lovers

please. the motel room not big enough that you need to slow things down on the road, too? or can you not hold your hands so as people can pass?

please do not PDA while walking. surely, we can see that you cannot multi-task. if you can’t, well just pick whatever you want to do. if you want to walk, then fine. if you want to do something else, go find a room!

2. People Smoking inside the Jeepney

is the world not big enough for you to smoke that you need a jeepney? also, there is a law that prohibits smoking in a public utility vehicle.

can you not deduce that people want you to stop smoking and throw your cigarette in the trash can (i also disapprove of smoker littering their sticks of cigarette) when we cover our noses with handkerchief? or are you just plain, walang pakialam.

if you are unaware of such thing, i hope that you die of lung cancer or some other respiratory disease. it will eventually happen to them. only, i said it first.

3. For FX with Malfunctioning Aircon

hey! we did ride the FX for its aircon right? so, an FX without an aircon is not necessarily correct.

what happened to what we paid for?

i did not pay 20pesos to sweat like a leaking faucet.

slow walkers, PUV smokers and malfunctioning FXs aren’t the only things that irritate me. however, my level of irritation for them is so high that they are the only ones i remembered.

one day, i just might lose my temper and walk-out.
